Pam’s New Book for Single Moms
Pam Kanaly’s book, The Single Mom and Her Rollercoaster Emotions, released March 25th from Pelican Publishing. Kanaly, president and co-founder of Arise Ministries, a national women’s organization, writes out of her own experience and offers hope to women who are dealing with extensive loss and struggling to stablize their emotions. After highlighting and defining nine specific negative emotions that often overwhelm single parents, Kanaly explains how to transform these common characteristics into corresponding positive traits. Founded on love and biblical teaching, these words of wisdom and compassion offer readers hope and consolation. The project was acquired for Pelican by Nina Kooij and placed by DRSA Agent Rachel S. Boye.
Robin’s first book project
The story of speaker, songwriter, and mother Robin Donica Wolaver, The Song of Annie Moses: A Musical Quest, A Mother’s Gift, released September 1, 2013 by Guideposts. It creatively and entertainingly recounts how one mother, born in mountain poverty and seclusion, led her children, through hard work and spiritual development, to the Juilliard School and ultimately to the founding of the Annie Moses Band — building a ministry of artistic and spiritual excellence in the process. The project was acquired by David Morris, Guideposts VP and Editorial Director (now with HarperCollins) and placed by David R. Shepherd.
Marian’s most recent project
Marian Jordan Ellis’s sixth book project, Sex and the Single Christian Girl released in November 2013 by Bethany House, an imprint of the Baker Publishing Group. She addresses Hollywood’s idea of romance–that sex is no big deal, that everyone is doing it, that it’s the only path to a happy ending. Based on her own story, she recounts the pitfalls of giving in to temptation–but also the blessings of God’s best found in waiting after she committed herself to Christ and to sexual purity. Now, from one Christian woman to another, she hopes to spare women the heartache of sexual sin and instead point them toward God’s best. Marian offers lots of practical advice, backed by biblical truth, to equip readers with the tools to overcome past mistakes and future temptations. It was acquired for Bethany by Tim Peterson (now with David C. Cook) and placed by David R. Shepherd.
Rich’s first trade book project
Rich Melheim’s first trade book released with Regal Books on April 30, 2013 and quickly went into a second and then a third printing. He asks readers to imagine a home where every person feels loved, valued and heard; to imagine a family that seeks God’s wisdom, will and Word together; and to imagine an intimate, affectionate community where every night is an experience of caring, sharing, comfort and peace. In Holding Your Family Together, Melheim presents a workable, powerful plan based on a simple nightly routine: Share, Read, Talk, Pray, Bless. This is the FAITH5, and it has transformed families around the world. No matter the child’s age or the family’s unique situation, the FAITH5 works. Melheim gives readers everything they need to get their families into a nightly habit that will open hearts among family members and to God. The project was acquired for Regal by Stan Jantz and placed by David R. Shepherd.
Nina’s book for women
Thomas Nelson Publishers released Nina Roesner’s book, Respect Dare: 40 Days to a Deeper Connection to God and Your Husband in December 2012. According to Nina, two thousand years ago, Paul gave women the key to a successful marriage, and it can be summed up in two words: unconditional respect. It’s not popular. It doesn’t sound fair. It can be hard to imagine. But it works. Nina has led countless women through this practical and life-changing journey, and in The Respect Dare she offers women the hope that so many others have found. Day by day, true stories and thought-provoking questions help readers apply biblical wisdom to the most important relationship in their lives. The project was acquired for Nelson by Bryan Norman (now with Alive Communications) and placed by DRSA Agent Rachel S. Boye.
Tom’s first project with Thomas Nelson
Thomas Nelson Publishers released Tom Doyle’s project, Dreams and Visions: Is Jesus Awakening the Muslim World? in September 2012. It is a remarkable collection of stories directly from the world of Islam. Doyle not only relates these stories, but also addresses the questions: Why would God use dreams to reach the Muslim world? Can dreams be trusted? What happens after these dreams or visions occur? He has spent eleven years as a full-time missionary in the Middle East and Central Asia, spreading the word of Jesus Christ. Throughout his journey he has encountered a staggering number of Muslims who were first introduced to Jesus through a vision or dream so powerful that they eventually turned from their lifelong religion of Islam and embraced Christ as their Savior. Despite living in a culture where converting to Christianity can result in execution, these former Muslims have found hope, peace, and inspiration that comes from knowing Christ. Their stories are amazing readers. Jesus is reaching out to the Muslims and they are responding. Greg Webster collaborated on the project. The project was acquired for Nelson by Senior VP and Publisher Matt Baugher and placed by David R. Shepherd.
